Why does my laptop heat up so quickly and easily? I have a laptop that easily overheats when left one by itself for an hour or so (no activity). I found it only contains one fan. And my Core temperatures average 68-76 Degrees Celsius. I borrowed my friend's laptop cooler and it kept it my laptop pretty cold. But I didn't have a temperature monitor when I had borrowed it and he had taken it back a few days ago. Any advice would be most helpful. The model of the laptop is a HP DV9010CA

What can I do about my heat-stricken laptop? I left my laptop in the car last evening. It was warm, but I did not think it was hot. When I removed my laptop later, it was very warm to the touch. Now many many things seem to be wrong with it. The OS (Ubuntu) is unusable, it will not turn on unless it is plugged in, and the batteries do not seem to charge. What is the best thing I can do? I removed the battery for 30 minutes or so. It works fine!! (I did this before you answered, so this question is effectively answered)
Does heat affect my laptop wireless card? It seems that my wireless signal is always best when I just turn my machine on, and worst after I've been using it for a while. It's also worse if I don't have air circulating underneath it, or if it's hot in the room. Is it the heat that's causing poor reception?

How do I keep my laptop from heating up this summer? I tried to prop my laptop up to allow the computer to cool off but it's still really warm. The vents are not blocked. The area where my hard drive is located, right next to the mousepad, heats up all the time and I worry about my data being lost. I've tried to take out my dvd-rom to ease the power consumption too.
Can a bad AC Adapter on a laptop cause the computer to over heat in a matter of minutes? I have a refurbished battery for my computer and ever since its somewhat loose (the plug in part is crooked) and I have to constantly twist and push on it so it stays connected and my computer over heats at an excessive rate, and when I take the thing out its as hot as a pan of boiling water, but my computer cools down immediately after I disconnect it.

Laptop Display becomes choppy when heat sink fan starts? I have purchasaed a Dell latitude d800 laptop, 1GHz processor, 1 GB Ram, NVidia GeForce 4200 Card (64MB). When i start laptop evey thing works fine. The Heat sink fan is not running, however, other fan is running. But when i play some game ( like virtua tennis) or play 2 or more movies simultaneously, then its heat sink fan starts after sometime with high speed, and keeps on high speed for approx 5 sec more and then runs slower, andthe display suddenly becomes choppy, however audio runs fine. The display stays choppy unless i restart the laptop. The heat sink fan is still running but on reduced speed, and the laptop display doesn't becomes choppy, even if i play game etc. However if room temp is high the fan again starts running on high speed causing display to become choppy. I am very sure that i have installed exact driver since only 4200 driver installs and card mode is 4200. The laptop is placed on wooden smooth table surface. Is it due to dust in heat sink....??? Any suggestions?? The laptop is "Second Hand" but in good condition and it is not repaired before

Laptop Battery Performance and Heat Loss? I have a HP Pavilion dv2000. It gets uncomfortably hot when I'm running it from AC power. A friend of mine says that once the battery is fully charged, the AC adapter, instead of transferring power to the battery, creates heat. He also claimed that charging a full battery reduces its use/lifetime/charge. Is this true? The computer also seems to run "slower" when it's on battery power. My games lag on battery, as opposed to AC. Normal? I've heard the stories about Sony's batteries catching fire, and obviously a hot computer is concern.
I have laptop heat and shut off issues? ok... I have a HP Pavilion zv5000 laptop. Biggest issue is power loss randomly and shutting down. The bottom around where the 2 fans are will sometimes get frying pan hot almost... but the fans are working. Also I have noticed that the power adapter/charger will get just as hot too. But with the charger plugged in to the wall but laptop not powered on it is cool as a cucumber... why is that? Mainly what I want to know is... any opinions from people with experiance in this area on what could be the cause here would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! actually... this laptop is being used without a battery. Just the power charger adapter being plugged in. the laptop stays on a desk with clearances all around for breathing and underneath is about an 1/8" clearance off the desk no visible dust build up is seen but I just blew it out and a lil bit of dust came out but hardly enough to cuss a cat over. Could my problem be the power adapter/charger getting so hot? I don't have the battery for this laptop. I got this used from a friend and worked fine for the past few months until now.
Is there any way to keep my laptop from heating up? Ill only be on my laptop for about 2 hours, and it will get really hot. It kinda hurts to have my hands resting by the keyboard. Its fairly new, top of the line, and i dont have more than 2 things running at once. Any way?
How can i stop my laptop from heating? Memory and disk space are ok and running. No hardware or software problems. I kept my laptop on for 4 hours and found it really hot. I have not installed any heavy applications either. Um, serious and helpful answers only. I am not a tattle tale or a troll but it is possible someone may report you for "filling in" answers. I am asking for help, so if you don't know the answer nobody is forcing you to answer. Thanks. My laptop is good ole Toshiba Satellite Pro
