Laptop Heat

How can I prevent my laptop from heating up?

My laptop is always hot, even when i put the processor speed at low its still hot. I don't use it on my bed or lap. Only my computer table, which is a hard wood surface. I don't want it to get heated up to a point where it fries up my mother board, so any tips would be helpful.

  1. Clean out your fans; they might be clogged with dust which will obstruct airflow. You can also aim a fan at your computer fans to keep it cool.
  2. Be careful if you clean the inside of it - some laptops aren't easy to get apart. You may be better off getting it down professionally. Also, you can buy a fan cooler for it - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=laptop+cooler They're pretty cheap and a lot of places sell them.
  3. Buy a fan cooler for it. Genuinely, Theo
  4. Laptops do run hot mainly because they don't have a heat sink like desktops but depend on a little fan, but if you think it is extremely hot or if it has gotten hotter over time it might be that your fan is under performing or the vents might be clogged up with dust, it is amazing how much dust can get in there and if the airflow is blocked it will cause the processor to overheat so try cleaning the vents and if that doesn't work it might be worthwhile getting someone to look at it. There are videos on youtube which show how to clean laptops just run a search on cleaning laptops. Hope that will help.
  5. Hi Anna Put a strip of 1/2" cardboard under the back legs so that your laptop raises away from the table or whatever. This will slant the keyboard slightly but it will be easier to ype as well LOL. I had the same problem but that solved the issue 100%. Now the air can circulate under the laptop with what I am suggesting. Also, blow air on the underside where the fan is to make sure it is not clogged.
  6. I think, the fan of processor is not working or not fast enough as it should. check the fan. Thanks Susteen DataPilot Migrate Data for Motorola
