how do i know my laptop fan is working or not?

i have two laptop when i switched on both computers .and put my hand on both laptop fan,i felt in one i can feel air blowing but in another i can't feel. how do i check my fan is working or not? the laptop which i found air not blowing from its fan it shuts down automatically after a minute.it happened yesterday,when my laptop made beepp.......... sound should i need to change laptop cooling fan or any ways that can be done? the one having problem laptop model is lenovo Y410, 1.5ghz, vista home premium , 1GB RAM

  1. Hold your hand over the exhaust vent and see if air is coming out
  2. Well I don't know anything really technical but if you remove any disks currently playing in your laptop you should be able to hear a slight hum which is the fan. I don't know about replacements or anything though...
  3. All laptops are made differently. Since you did not mention you make & model it is impossible to be specific. Your fan could be blocked by dirt & dust. Blow out the vents with canned air. Contact tech support at makers web site for specific replacement info.
