Laptop Heat

Have a laptop cooler but fan still runs a lot. What can I do?

Over the summer I purchased a laptop cooler. This worked so good, the fan would stay off. About a month ago, I had a problem with my computer and brought it to my campus computer center. They said they found viruses and whatnot and fixed it. After I got it back the fan would constanly run. They deny they did anything. I hate that they are always on because I bring my laptop to class and its so noisy compared to everyone elses. The laptop is about 3 years old and it is a compaq. I tried to use air in a can but that didn't help. Do any stores (Best Buy, Staples, etc.) clean the dust out of computers? If so how much does it run? Any other suggestions? Could tech help screwed up my computer? Over the summer I purchased a laptop cooler. This worked so good, the fan would stay off. And they didn't rip me off because I didn't pay. It was free. I doubt they switched out my fan. EDIT: Did you notice the part that said I did use a can of air? 1. I seriously doubt they did anything to make that fan louder. Most laptop fans are kinda noisy. If you have a cd in the cd rom drive, you will hear it will run constantly in most cases but it should even stop after a few minutes, but your system fan should not. You can open that laptop your self and take an air can to clean out any dust you see. Otherwise, you can take it to best buy and let geek squad do it. One other thing you can take into consideration is get some software to monitor the heat levels on your processor and such. I would also suggest maybe even replacing the fan. It could be the case its just not cooling it at all so it just runs. One other suggestion, and i say this because it was said to turn the system off.i normally blow the fans with a air can while the system is running, and i say this because when your blowing air with the system off, all your doing is blowing it back inside the system further. If the system is on and you blow the fans with air it will blow more out that way.
  2. go spend 6 bucks and buy a can of air and blow out the fans fins ect everywhere theres an opening on the laptop spray it just make sure its off and unplugged first
  3. if anything they was talking (BS) about virus they may have put in a old fan that will soon stop workng it is best to take it to a better place for someone to take a look not the same place you went to there on a rip off latop 3 years old its its getting on in age now having new fan put in on an old laptop what if the motherboard goes there goes the laptop .they rip you off and give (bs) if you want to go on using this have a new fan put in but not by them lot you went to there just ripping you off
