Is a laptop cooler fan worth getting?
I use my laptop gets very hot but it hasn't overheated before and i think it is getting even more hotter because the temperature is getting hotter (it feels hotter anyways). Should i get a cooler fan?

- yes
- Zap the vents and holes in your laptop with a can of compressed air first, then never put it on a soft surface which restricts airflow and third, a stand which increases airflow may help.
- does that exist... wow, i never thought about that i thought it was normal for a laptop to be kind of hot.. not overheating though
- A laptop usually runs fairly hot (as does a PC for that matter) because of the very restricted free air space for ventilation inside. As long as no vents are blocked by using it on a soft surface it is not normally a problem. The heat may shorten the life of the components but any computer nowadays has a relatively short life anyway as they become obsolete so quickly.
- You mean one of these ► http://www.laptopstuff.co.uk/p/Port_Designs_Laptop_CoolFan_Stand.htm If so yes it would. A friend has got one and he recons it's the best thing he's got.
- take it to the local dealer and get it serviced, they give it a good hoovering inside to clean the dust from the processer cooler that will cure your problems . just adding a cooler will not cure the situation just extend it. it will get worse until the processer packs up. so a few pounds now will save loads in the future
- Not that i would need one (Scotland - _ -"), but yea why not.
- Naw. What you need to do is make sure it is on a hard, flat surface. Once you've done that VACUUM the vent with one of your vacuums to extract the dust inside of it (you don't need to power the laptop off or anything like that). I know this sounds stupid but this is the BEST way for me. I've had many crashes from overheating while playing games (like WoW or Runescape), watching movies, etc. and my computer would reach up in the 80 degrees Celsius but once I vacuumed my vents, it immediately shot down to 18 degrees Celsius. It's amazing. Plus it costs nothing, so you don't have to be a cooler or anything. You can download a program that controls your fans and tells you the temperature of your computer here --> http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html Good luck :)
