Laptop Heat

Will a regular table fan cool my laptop enough?

The fan in my Dell died a while ago so I have been using a small table fan to blow air at the bottom of my laptop to keep it from getting to hot. I was wondering if this is cooling my laptop enough to keep it from malfunctioning, and if so, should I point the table fan into the fan space on the laptop or just aim it at the battery since that seems to be what is getting the hottest?

  1. Be careful your notebook can and will overheat. A box fan may blow air pretty hard but cannot provide sufficient air flow to keep your CPU and GPU cool. It only takes a few seconds to overheat burn up better to be safe than sorry. Take it to a shop or call around and get a quote to fix it. It will cost less in the long run, trust me I know first hand.
