- well for starts dont put your laptop on a couch, bed, or any other surface similir. Put it on a wood table or something like that.
- There is a cooling pad on sale right now at Bed Bath and Beyond for 30.00, and there is one at Big Lots for 10.00. Target has one for 10 and 20.00 also.
- New machines generate a lot of heat, this is what happens when you squish a ton of performance into a small case. AMD is the worst for this, but Intel is still pretty bad.. Ultimately the machines have fairly good cooling properties, you really don't need to worry about this to bad if you bought a decent machine. Ultimately all of the "coolers" out their are a gimmick.. Your laptop has a gutter that releases heat to a secondary fan that blows out either through a fin design or though a physical fan. Using a "cooler" will just blow the hot air back into the machine, which will cause heat soak, warping and eventually kill the machine. The best thing you can do is just don't put the machine on the top of anything like cloth, Make sure it is sitting on a non flammable hard surface so that the fans can blow the hot air away from the machine. If you are going to use it on your lap, then you really should get one of those hard table desks to sit it on, mostly because you don't want to burn yourself.
