Does heat affect my laptop wireless card?
It seems that my wireless signal is always best when I just turn my machine on, and worst after I've been using it for a while. It's also worse if I don't have air circulating underneath it, or if it's hot in the room. Is it the heat that's causing poor reception?

- I think heat have bad effect in it like in the PC and Laptop....
- I would expect heat could cause issues with the wireless card along with other parts aswell, especially if vents are ever blocked. I know when I use the vaio it gets real hot after a long session and it has in the past had graphic issues when running hot for a while. Also, although it sounds like heat causing issues I would seriously consider cleaning your temporary internet files etc as that can speed up connection alittle sometimes. This site should help you delete temp internet files, cookies etc. Make sure you read everything as you go through the process and use common sense as to what to delete as allways. http://www.pchell.com/support/privacy.shtml
- I had the same problem with my old card/receiver. i think maybe i over-heated it one day but from then on it would work like for the first 10 mins then stop. so i got a new card so if its new you should take it back and see what the dealer can do, hope this helps
- Just to let you know heat can damage your laptop to the point that you'll need to get a new one. Meaning don't use it on your bed because often times the bed blocks the vent and the hot air recirculates throughout your laptop and it burns up your laptop. I doubt that it's the heat causing poor reception, just make sure to keep your notebook plugged into your adapter most of the time to save your battery life. When you notice your reception diminishing check your battery to see if there's any correlation. Hope this helps.
