my laptop always gets warm realy fast and wanted to know how to cool it off without spending a dime

  1. Allow more space under and around it for air to flow around and through it to cool it off.
  2. If it's burning you're legs you could put a think blanket between you and the laptop and you can't feel the heat.
  3. "without spending a dime".. good luck. You really should get a laptop cooling pad. They're about 25 bucks at Walmart. They have about 4 fans running in them blowing up into your laptop. Whoever said to put a blanket on your lap to keep from feeling the heat... that's the most ridiculous answer yet. You see, you have fans on your computer to keep components cool. If you put a blanket on your lap, and then set the laptop on top of it, you're going to block the airflow. Sure, you may not feel the heat, but your processor will and you'll be buying a new laptop rather than a 25 cooling pad.

  5. Run the CPU at the slowest usable clock speed. It should keep cool enough to have it in your lap. You can also try decreasing the CPU voltage this should also extend your battery life. If you have a Mac u can download SmcFanControl this program helps you control the built in fan. It also indicates the temperature of your laptop. You can also try placing two erasers into the slots of a aluminum ruler and then lower your laptop on top of the two erasers so that it inclines towards you.
  6. Get a can of compressed and blow it out Defrag the HDD Download and run superantivirus and spybot Delete programs you seldom or no longer use
