Laptop Heat

How do I keep my laptop cool?

I think the fan inside is dying, and I should probably replace it, but until then is there anything else that I can do? I already have it sitting on top of one of those laptop cooling fans, and even have a little desktop fan next to it, but it still seems like it's getting too warm. I have a Dell Inspiron 8200.

  1. keep it turned off when ever you're not using it. keep it away from a TV, cable box, any thing that gives off heat.
  2. I use mine a lot so I built my own. Use 10mm thick perspex or wood. 1 rectangle bit the size of your laptop with two cooling fans in it and a triangle bit on each side to elavate it and put it on a slope for easier use. I used 2 x 240v cooling fans as the have a higher air output. Works a treat. I used perspex cos it looks better.
  3. You will need to get the internal fan fixed if you think that is the problem. Otherwise, you are going to loose the CPU to heat. The only other thing you can do until you fix the major problem.... you will have to use the laptop in rooms that are below 70 degrees. The colder the room the better... but, YOU will become uncomfortable after a bit.
