  1. because the harddrive heats up and then all the information is destoryed
  2. The computer parts may burn, that is why you must have a fan.
  3. A laptop must have unobstructed air flow through it's case and often requires the assistance of a fan to move the heat produced by it's high performance components out and cool air in. If heat builds up in the case your processor will start running slow, then other components will slow down and eventually fail leading to a major repair bill or even (in extreame cases) having to junk the whole computer and get a new one.
  4. In recent times with the duo processor or its equivalent that is come with most computers (Laptops), your computer generates a lot of heat and most times it is important to have your system in a well aerated place so that heat from the processor and other components can easily be cooled off by the fan or other coolants... If your computer continue to heat some of the components on your system especially the board may become overheated and then damaged... I have had some problems with systems(Laptops) with damaged baords recently... so it is important you keep your laptop cool or in a cool environment at most time... Good luck
